Ka pai! You’ve chosen to use your own router, which is great — it helps reduce e-waste and is better for the environment. Because this is a BYO router, we won’t be able to provide hands-on support for setup, as there are too many different models on the market. That said, we’ve put together this guide to help you get connected. If you run into any issues, we recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer for support. Alternatively, if you’d like to use one of our Zeronet routers, get in touch with our team and we’ll happily organise that for you.
Step 1: Connect Your Router to the ONT
Connect the WAN (Internet) port of your D-Link M15 Eagle Pro AX1500 router to the first port (LAN1 or GE1) on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) using an Ethernet cable. Check your Zeronet setup details to confirm the correct ONT port. Ensure the router is powered on and that your computer or mobile device is connected via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable.
Step 2: Setup via Eagle Pro AI App
You can set up your router using the Eagle Pro AI app on your mobile device. Download the app for your device:
Create a Zeronet account in the app, log in, then tap "Install New Device" and follow the prompts to complete the setup. Ensure these settings are applied:
- Internet connection type: Dynamic IP
- VLAN ID:
10 - VLAN Priority:
0 - 802.1Q Tag enabled if available
If you prefer, you can configure the router using a web browser instead (see Step 3).
Step 3: Access the Router’s Admin Panel
Open a web browser on a connected device and enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Log in using the default username admin and password admin, unless these have been changed. If you cannot remember your login details, proceed to Step 8 to reset the router.
Step 4: Internet Connection Type Settings (DHCP)
Once logged in, navigate to Setup > Internet > IPv4. Set “My Internet Connection is” to Dynamic IP (DHCP). Open Advanced Settings and ensure the MTU is set to 1500. Save the changes. This allows the router to automatically receive an IP address from Zeronet’s network.
Step 5: Configure VLAN Settings
To enable VLAN tagging for Zeronet UFB connections:
- Go to Advanced > VLAN
- Enable VLAN tagging
- Enter Internet VLAN ID:
10and Priority:0 - Save or apply the configuration
Step 6: Save and Apply Configuration
After entering the Dynamic IP and VLAN settings, click Save or Apply to confirm the changes. The router may restart automatically. Allow a few minutes for the restart to complete.
Step 7: Verify the Internet Connection
Check the WAN/Internet LED on the router. A solid green light indicates an active connection. On a connected device, open a website to confirm that the internet is working.
Step 8: Troubleshooting and Reset
If your internet connection is not working:
- Restart both the ONT and the router by unplugging them for 30 seconds, then plug them back in
- Verify VLAN and DHCP settings are correct
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected
If you still cannot access the router due to forgotten credentials or misconfiguration, reset it to factory defaults by pressing the reset button on the back of the router for 10–15 seconds until the lights flash. After rebooting, log in with default credentials and repeat setup from Step 3.
