Ka pai! You’ve chosen to use your own router, which is great — it helps reduce e-waste and is better for the environment. Because this is a BYO router, we won’t be able to provide hands-on support for setup, as there are too many different models on the market. That said, we’ve put together this guide to help you get connected. If you run into any issues, we recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer for support. Alternatively, if you’d like to use one of our Zeronet routers, get in touch with our team and we’ll happily organise that for you.
1. Connect your Router to the ONT
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Fibre/Internet port of your Arcadyan VRV9527 (Smart Modem 3) router to the provisioned port on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT). This port is usually LAN1 or GE1 — check your Zeronet welcome message for the correct port. Ensure the router is powered on and that your computer or smartphone is connected via Wi‑Fi or a LAN cable.
2. Access the Router’s Admin Panel
Open a web browser on a connected device and go to http://192.168.1.254 or http://192.168.1.1. Log in with the default username admin and password admin. If you have changed your login and cannot remember it, proceed to the reset instructions in Step 7.
3. Internet Connection Type & VLAN Settings (DHCP)
Once logged in, navigate to Network Settings > WAN. Set the WAN Type to Ethernet WAN and select Edit under the interface settings.
Configure the following:
- WAN Connection Type: Automatic IP (DHCP)
- Enable WAN: Yes
- 802.1Q VLAN: Enable
- Internet VLAN ID: 10
Click Apply or Save to confirm the changes.
4. Save the Configuration
After entering the VLAN and DHCP settings, click the Save button to store the configuration. The router may automatically restart to apply the new settings. Wait a few minutes for this to complete.
5. Verify Your Internet Connection
Once the router has restarted, check the WAN/Internet LED on the modem. A solid green light typically indicates a successful connection. Open a browser on your connected device and try visiting a website to confirm internet connectivity.
6. Troubleshooting (If Needed)
If your internet is not working after setup:
- Restart both the ONT and router by unplugging them for about 30 seconds, then power them back on.
- Double-check the VLAN and DHCP settings in the router’s admin panel.
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the correct ONT port and the router’s WAN port.
These steps resolve most common connectivity issues.
7. Reset the Router (If Required)
If you cannot log in due to forgotten credentials or misconfiguration, reset the router to factory defaults. Locate the reset button on the back of the router and use a pin or paperclip to press and hold it for 10–15 seconds until the router’s lights flash. Release the button and allow the router to reboot. Then log in with the default credentials and repeat the setup from Step 2.
