Ka pai! You’ve chosen to use your own router, which is great — it helps reduce e-waste and is better for the environment. Because this is a BYO router, we won’t be able to provide hands-on support for setup, as there are too many different models on the market. That said, we’ve put together this guide to help you get connected. If you run into any issues, we recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer for support. Alternatively, if you’d like to use one of our Zeronet routers, get in touch with our team and we’ll happily organise that for you.
1. Connect your Router to the ONT
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Fibre/Internet port on your Arcadyan Futura router to the provisioned port on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The correct ONT port is typically labelled LAN1 or GE1 — check your Zeronet setup messages for confirmation. Make sure the router is powered on, and that your computer or mobile device is connected to the router via Wi-Fi or a LAN cable.
2. Access the Router’s Admin Panel
Open a web browser on a device connected to the router and type http://192.168.1.254 (or http://192.168.1.1) into the address bar. You’ll see a login screen. Enter the default username admin and password admin (or check the label on your router if these differ). If you’ve changed these and cannot remember them, you may need to reset the router (see Step 7).
3. Internet Connection Type & VLAN Settings
Once logged in, navigate to Network Settings > WAN. Change the WAN Type to Ethernet WAN. Then choose Edit under the interface settings.
Set the following:
- WAN Connection Type: Automatic IP (DHCP)
- Enable WAN: Yes
- 802.1Q VLAN: Enable
- Internet VLAN ID: 10
After entering these settings, click Apply or Save to confirm the changes.
4. Save the Configuration
Once you’ve entered the settings above, click the save option in your router interface. The Arcadyan Futura may reboot automatically to apply the changes — allow a few minutes for this process to complete.
5. Verify Your Internet Connection
After the router restarts, check the WAN/Internet LED indicator on the router. A solid green light usually means you have a successful connection. You can also try loading a website on a connected device to confirm internet access is active.
6. Troubleshooting
If you’re not yet online:
- Turn off both the ONT and the router, wait about 30 seconds, and then power them back on.
- Double-check that the VLAN and DHCP settings are entered correctly in the router’s admin panel.
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is fully inserted into the correct ports on both the ONT and router.
These steps resolve most common connectivity issues.
7. Reset the Router (If Required)
If you can’t access your router because the login credentials are forgotten or settings are misconfigured, you can reset it to factory defaults:
- Find the reset button on the back of the router.
- Press and hold it for about 10–15 seconds using a pin or paperclip until the router’s lights begin to flash.
- The router will reboot and return to default settings. You can then log in with the default credentials and repeat the setup from Step 2.
