What is WiFi Calling?
WiFi Calling allows you to make and receive calls or texts using a WiFi connection, even if mobile coverage is patchy or unavailable.
It works just like a normal mobile call, but instead of relying on the mobile network, it uses WiFi. Plus, your call can seamlessly switch between WiFi and your mobile network during a call if needed.
Simply turn on WiFi Calling in your phone settings, and it will automatically connect when you're on WiFi and have a weak mobile signal. No apps, logins, or new phone numbers are required. It’s that easy!
With WiFi calling services, you can:
- Make and receive domestic local calls and texts in New Zealand
- Make and receive international calls and texts - based on your plan*
- Use emergency service - where supported
Important to note:
Service may be restricted when using a VPN
Service availability and quality depend on your WiFi connection
