Ka pai! You’ve chosen to use your own router, which is great — it helps reduce e-waste and is better for the environment. Because this is a BYO router, we won’t be able to provide hands-on support for setup, as there are too many different models on the market. That said, we’ve put together this guide to help you get connected. If you run into any issues, we recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer for support. Alternatively, if you’d like to use one of our Zeronet routers, get in touch with our team and we’ll happily organise that for you.
1. Connect Your Router to the ONT
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port of your Mercusys Halo H60X AX1500 router to the first port (LAN1 or GE1) on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT). Sometimes the second port may be used instead—check your Zeronet welcome email for which port to use. Ensure the router is powered on and that your computer or smartphone is connected to the router via Wi‑Fi or a LAN cable.
2. Setup via the Mercusys App
Open the Mercusys app on your phone and log in with your Mercusys ID. Follow the step-by-step prompts to configure your device:
- Connect to Wi‑Fi; the app will detect your device.
- Choose a name and location for your device.
- On the Internet Connection page, configure the following:
- Connection Type: Dynamic IP
- IPTV/VLAN: On
- Internet VLAN ID: 10
- Internet VLAN Priority: 0
- If available, enable 802.1Q
- Click Next and follow the prompts to finish setup.
3. Access the Router’s Admin Panel
Open a web browser on a connected device and enter http://mwlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Log in with the default credentials: Username: admin, Password: admin. If you changed your password and cannot remember it, proceed to Step 8 to reset the router.
4. Internet Connection Type Settings (DHCP)
Navigate to Internet > Internet Settings. Set the Internet Connection Type to Dynamic IP (DHCP) and click Save.
5. Configure VLAN Settings
Navigate to Advanced Settings > Network > IPTV/VLAN. Enable VLAN Tagging and configure the following:
- Internet VLAN ID: 10
- Priority: 0
Click Save to confirm the changes.
6. Save the Configuration
After entering the VLAN and DHCP settings, click Save to confirm. The router may restart—wait a few minutes for the restart to complete.
7. Verify the Internet Connection
Check the WAN/Internet LED on the router—it should be solid white. On a connected device, try accessing a website to confirm that the connection is active.
8. Troubleshooting (if needed)
If your internet connection is not working:
- Restart both the ONT and router by unplugging them for 30 seconds and plugging them back in.
- Double-check VLAN and DHCP settings in the router configuration.
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the correct ports (first port on the ONT and the WAN port on the router).
