1. Connect your router to the ONT
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port on your ASUS RT-AC5300 router to the active port on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT). The correct ONT port is usually labelled LAN1 or GE1. Make sure the router is powered on and your computer or mobile device is connected to the router using Wi-Fi or a LAN cable.
2. Access the router admin interface
Open a web browser on a device connected to the router and enter 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. When prompted, log in using the default username admin and default password admin. If these details have already been changed and are unknown, the router may need to be reset.
3. Set the internet connection type
Once logged in, navigate to the WAN section and select Internet Connection. Set the WAN Connection Type to Automatic IP. Ensure authentication settings are set to None, then apply the changes.
4. Configure VLAN settings
Go to the LAN section and open the IPTV tab. Set the ISP Profile to Manual Setting. Enter 10 for the Internet VLAN ID and set the Priority value to 0. Leave all other fields unchanged and apply the settings.

5. Save and apply settings
After completing the internet and VLAN configuration, confirm that all settings are applied. The router may restart briefly while saving the configuration.
6. Check the internet connection
Once the router has completed the restart, check that the WAN or Internet indicator light is active. Use a connected device to open a website to confirm that the internet connection is working.
7. Troubleshooting connection issues
If the internet does not connect, restart both the ONT and the router by unplugging them from power for 30 seconds before reconnecting. Confirm that the Ethernet cable is securely connected and recheck the internet and VLAN settings in the router admin interface.
8. Reset the router if required
If you are unable to access the router or the configuration is incorrect, reset the router to factory settings. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10 to 15 seconds until the indicator lights begin flashing. After the reset, log in again using the default credentials and repeat the setup process.
