How to Identify If You Have a Prepaid or Postpaid Mobile Number
Before porting (transferring) your mobile number to our network, it’s important to know whether your number is prepaid or postpaid. Here’s how you can check:
Prepaid Mobile Number
✅ Pay before use – You top up or recharge your balance before making calls, sending texts, or using data.
✅ No monthly bill – Instead, you buy credit as needed.
✅ Check balance – You can check your credit balance via a code or your provider’s app.
✅ Needs top-up – If your credit runs out, you need to add more to continue using the service.
What you need to provide for porting:
✔️ Your current mobile provider’s name
✔️ The serial number of your SIM card (found on the SIM or in phone settings)
Postpaid Mobile Number
✅ Pay after use – You receive a monthly bill for calls, texts, and data.
✅ Fixed monthly plan – Your plan may include a contract with a set monthly fee.
✅ Phone installment payments – You may be paying for a phone as part of your plan.
✅ Service suspension on non-payment – If you don’t pay your bill, your provider may suspend your service.
What you need to provide for porting:
✔️ Your account number from your current mobile provider
✔️ Your registered account name and details
Still Unsure?
-
Check your provider’s mobile app – It often displays whether your plan is prepaid or postpaid.
-
Look at your payment history – If you regularly top up, you’re prepaid. If you receive a bill, you’re postpaid.
