A common reason your computer can't connect through cable is the computer's network adapter not being set up correctly.
Click your Network icon on your taskbar
Open Networking and Internet Settings to open the window below
Click Change Adapter Settings to open the window below
Right-click your Ethernet Adapter
If the status is Disabled, right-click on this and set it to Enabled instead.
If it's enabled but still not connecting, right-click on the adapter icon and select Status > Details to determine the device's IP address. If the device's IP is 0.0.0.0 or 169.254.x.x, click Diagnose on the adapter icon.
If all else fails, right-click the adapter and choose Properties. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 and then click Properties. Make sure Obtain IP/DNS address automatically is selected.
