Ka pai! You’ve chosen to use your own router, which is great — it helps reduce e-waste and is better for the environment. Because this is a BYO router, we won’t be able to provide hands-on support for setup, as there are too many different models on the market. That said, we’ve put together this guide to help you get connected. If you run into any issues, we recommend contacting the retailer or manufacturer for support. Alternatively, if you’d like to use one of our Zeronet routers, get in touch with our team and we’ll happily organise that for you.

This guide applies to the following TP‑Link Deco models:
- TP‑Link Deco BE25 (BE5000)

1. Connect Your Router to the ONT
Connect the WAN port of the TP‑Link Deco BE25 (BE5000) router to the first port (LAN1 or GE1) on your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) using an ethernet cable. Sometimes we connect to the second port instead of the first — check your Welcome email instructions to make sure which port you should use. Ensure the router is powered on and that your computer or smartphone is connected to the router via Wi‑Fi or a LAN cable.
2. Setup via the Deco App
It is highly recommended that you use the Deco App for this device. If you manually configure, you won’t have access to all configuration options. Download the Deco App:
You will need a TP‑Link ID to login or create an account. Once logged in:
- Tap “Let's Begin.”
- If this prompt does not show, navigate to the Network tab, tap “+”, and select “Create a Network.”
- Search for your Deco model and select it.
- Follow the app prompts.
- Once connected to Deco Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth, disable mobile data and continue with in-app prompts.
- When prompted to select Internet Connection Type = DHCP (Dynamic IP):
- If ISP Profile option appears, click it to enter VLAN settings:
- IPTV/VLAN = On
- Mode = NZ UFB (or Custom if New Zealand UFB is not available)
- Internet VLAN ID = 10
- Internet VLAN Priority = 0
2.1 Manually Access the Router’s Admin Panel
Open a web browser on a connected device and enter http://tplinkdeco.net. Log in using the default credentials:
- Username:
admin - Password:
admin
If you have changed the credentials and cannot remember them, proceed to Step 8 for resetting the router. You can view system status and Deco information here, but most configuration requires the Deco App.
3.0 Internet Connection Type Settings (DHCP)
In the Deco App:
- Navigate to Internet Settings.
- Set the Internet Connection Type to Dynamic IP (DHCP).
- Click Save to confirm the changes.
3.1 View Deco Status & System Status
Once logged in, you can view your Deco’s status and system settings. The web interface only allows viewing — configuration must be done via the Deco App.
4. Configure VLAN Settings with Deco App
In the Deco App:
- Go to More > Advanced > IPTV/VLAN.
- Enable IPTV/VLAN.
- Click Mode and select “New Zealand UFB” or “Custom.”
- Set the following:
- Internet VLAN ID: 10
- Priority: 0
- Click Save to finish setup.
5. Save the Configuration
After entering VLAN and DHCP settings, click Save. The router may restart to apply the settings — wait a few minutes for completion.
6. Verify Internet Connection
Check the WAN/Internet LED on the Deco — it should be solid green if connected. On a connected device, try opening a website to confirm connectivity.
7. Troubleshooting (If Needed)
If the internet is not working:
- Restart both the ONT and the Deco by unplugging them for 30 seconds, then plug back in.
- Double-check VLAN and DHCP settings in the Deco App.
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the correct ports.
8. Reset the Deco (If Required)
To reset:
- Locate the reset button on the Deco unit.
- Press and hold for 10–15 seconds using a pin or paperclip.
- Release when the LEDs flash — Deco will reboot to factory settings.
- Log in via the Deco App and repeat setup from Step 2.
